About

In 1990 Adrienne Arnold founded Club Adagio Rhythmic Gymnastics and two of its first gymnasts Megan Arnold and Ashley Arnold are now Head Coaches of the program.  Together with former Bulgarian National Team member Daniela Todorova and former Canadian National Team member Roxana Cervantes, these individuals form the nucleus of the staff for the Vancouver program. As part of our "After School Care Program", Club Adagio strives to provide an interesting and challenging environment for young girls to experience a healthy and creative sport under the supervision of and guidance of our coaches who have received special education and instructions on working with children through their coaching education and certification training programs.

In 2001 Adrienne Arnold founded the Club Adagio Maple Ridge program and former Canadian National Team member Leanne Karpus became the club’s Head Coach there. Bulgarian trained international level coach, Blagovesta Getsova joined the Maple Ridge program moving from Club Adagio Vancouver in 2005 and Betty Getsova and Leanne Karpus are assisted by former competitor Leah Karpus and Ballet Mistress/Coach Jennifer Hill. Former competitive athlete Jana Asman is Head Coach of the new Club Adagio North Vancouver program and former competitive athletes Frances Wu, Mercy Southam, Cherry Hsu, Pearl Hsu, Hannah Rosenberg and Stephanie Hurl coach with the Club Adagio on a part time or summer basis.

Our club has grown enormously since the early days and our athletes have enjoyed great success at the performance, provincial, national and international levels of competition in BC and Canada. Club Adagio is the largest rhythmic gymnastics club in BC thanks to the efforts of all of its staff, past and present, and thanks to the good will of our families who have so generously spread the word about all the positive aspects of our program.

Our Rhythmic Inspirations program is available to girls of any ability level who are interested in getting learning the beautiful sport of rhythmic gymnastics.  Through this program girls are encouraged to explore their creativity and to pursue their athletic development and performance opportunities in rhythmic gymnastics.  A fun team atmosphere prevails and girls develop poise, confidence and a healthy attitude that will serve them well in their future pursuits. Our Rhythmic Dreams and  Rhythmic Stars programs allow inspired rhythmic gymnasts to develop further in the sport at either a beginning or advanced competitive level.  In addition, girls who have long range goals of national and international competition, opportunities are available through Club Adagio to audition for the national team program at our sister club International Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy of Vancouver.

Girls who are invited into Club Adagio’s competitive level programs are assessed on their flexibility, coordination, natural grace, musicality and desire. Our expert coaches take the new beginner and set her upon a course of personal athletic development that is appropriate to her age, interest and ability level. Club Adagio athletes are provided with personal training goals for each season which can be reasonably met and mastered so that the gymnast herself recognizes and is proud of her own personal progress. As a bonus, our athletes always post excellent results at the zone, provincial and invitational competitions.
